Job Overview: The position of national consultant is aimed at supporting the adaptation of economic and financial tools to the Algerian context. The consultant will be responsible for analyzing existing frameworks and proposing modifications that align with national priorities and international standards. This role requires a deep understanding of Algeria's economic landscape and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society, and the private sector. The consultant will work closely with UNDP to ensure that the adaptations are feasible and effective, contributing to the overall goals of sustainable development in Algeria. The mission is expected to last for 30 working days, during which the consultant will conduct research, facilitate discussions, and prepare reports on their findings and recommendations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Conducting a comprehensive analysis of current economic and financial tools used in Algeria.
Identifying gaps and areas for improvement in these tools to better serve the needs of the population and the economy.
Engaging with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on proposed adaptations.
Developing a set of recommendations for the adaptation of these tools, ensuring they are aligned with national policies and international best practices.
Preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to UNDP and relevant stakeholders.
Providing ongoing support and advice to UNDP throughout the adaptation process.
Ensuring that all work is completed within the specified timeline and meets the quality standards set by UNDP.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in economics, finance, or a related field. They should have proven experience in policy analysis, economic research, or financial consulting. Familiarity with the Algerian economic context and previous work with governmental or international organizations will be considered an asset. Strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills are essential for this role. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field is required. Candidates with a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant area will be given preference. Relevant certifications or training in project management or consulting will also be advantageous.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in economic analysis, financial consulting, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have a track record of successfully managing projects and delivering results within set deadlines.
Languages: Fluency in both Arabic and French is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in Algeria. Proficiency in English is considered a strong asset, as it will facilitate communication with international stakeholders and access to global resources.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 30 working days. The consultant will be expected to work on a full-time basis during this period.
