Job Overview:
The position of UN Volunteer involves supporting UNICEF's humanitarian response in Colombia, particularly in health and nutrition sectors. The volunteer will be responsible for designing and implementing standardized information management structures for humanitarian actions, conducting needs assessments, monitoring activities and results, and preparing reports. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and adherence to ethical standards in data management. The volunteer will also assist in strengthening UNICEF's integrated monitoring system, ensuring data traceability and compliance with reporting obligations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Information Management and Needs Analysis: Design and implement standardized information management structures for humanitarian actions, including templates, data collection instruments, and analytical inputs for decision-making.
  • Monitoring Activities and Results: Develop monitoring frameworks, conduct field monitoring, and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Reporting and Information Products: Prepare periodic reports and humanitarian documents, consolidating findings and recommendations.
  • Ethical Data Management: Apply mechanisms for data consistency and verification, ensuring compliance with child protection and gender equality standards.
  • Inter-agency Coordination: Collaborate with implementing partners and participate in inter-agency spaces to promote technological solutions for data collection and reporting.
  • Support to UNICEF's Monitoring System: Assist in strengthening the technical and operational aspects of UNICEF's monitoring system for humanitarian and development actions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to ethical standards in humanitarian work. Familiarity with data management and monitoring frameworks is essential. Candidates should also possess the ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams and adapt to challenging environments.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, public health, international development, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in humanitarian response or child protection are advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in humanitarian settings, particularly in monitoring and evaluation roles. Experience working with children and vulnerable populations is highly desirable, along with familiarity with UNICEF's operational frameworks and standards.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration is subject to funding availability and operational needs, with the possibility of extensions. The monthly living allowance is set at $8,515,500 COP, covering housing and living expenses. Volunteers are responsible for securing their own accommodation and essentials. The position requires full availability and exclusivity with the UN system. Volunteers are also covered by insurance for life, health, and permanent disability.
