Job Posting Organization:
The Dakar hub operates as a sub-regional office of the Regional Bureau for Africa (RBA) covering West and Central Africa (WCA). The mission of the Dakar hub is to provide dedicated management support and policy advisory services to country offices in the WCA sub-region, ensuring that the expertise is aligned with UNDP’s operational needs. The hub also hosts the Sahel team, which focuses on supporting country offices in the Sahel region as part of the UN's strategy for that area. The organization aims to foster strong partnerships with sub-regional institutions and other UN agencies to enhance programmatic and advocacy efforts.

Job Overview:
The WCA Sub-Regional Hub Manager is responsible for leading the Dakar sub-regional hub team, ensuring effective support to UNDP country offices in the WCA sub-region. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of sub-regional initiatives, particularly those related to the UN Integrated Strategy for the Sahel. The manager will work under the guidance of the RBA Director and the Regional Service Center for Africa Hub Director, focusing on delivering quality management support and advisory services. The position requires a strategic approach to enhance collaboration with various stakeholders, including UN agencies and regional partners, to achieve the objectives of the UNDP in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Dakar sub-regional hub team, ensuring effective management and quality support to UNDP country offices in the WCA sub-region.
  • Develop and implement sub-regional initiatives, particularly in relation to the UN Integrated Strategy for the Sahel.
  • Foster strong programmatic and advocacy partnerships with sub-regional institutions and other partners, including UN agencies.
  • Provide policy and programming advisory services to country offices, aligning with UNDP’s operational needs.
  • Coordinate with the RBA Director and RSCA Hub Director to ensure strategic alignment and effective communication.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of sub-regional initiatives and adjust strategies as necessary to meet objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong leadership and management skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a deep understanding of the UN system and its operations in the region. A strong background in policy development and program management is essential, as well as the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in international relations, public administration, development studies, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or related areas would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 7-10 years of relevant experience in management and advisory roles within international organizations, particularly in the context of development and humanitarian assistance. Experience working in West and Central Africa is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the UN system and its operational frameworks.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory, as these are the primary working languages of the organization. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region would be considered an asset.
