Job Overview: The position of UN Volunteer involves supporting UNICEF's humanitarian response in Colombia, particularly in the context of the 2025-2028 Country Program. The volunteer will work under the supervision of the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PM&E) Officer, focusing on information management, needs analysis, monitoring activities, and reporting. The role is crucial for ensuring that UNICEF's interventions are effective, timely, and aligned with the needs of the most vulnerable populations, particularly in areas affected by crises. The volunteer will be responsible for designing standardized information management structures, conducting field monitoring, preparing analytical reports, and ensuring ethical data management practices. This position requires a proactive approach to collaboration with various stakeholders, including local partners and humanitarian actors, to enhance the quality and impact of UNICEF's programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Information Management and Needs Analysis: Design and implement standardized information management structures for humanitarian actions in child protection and child development. This includes creating templates, information flows, verification protocols, secure repositories, and data collection instruments. Produce analytical inputs for decision-making, such as rapid needs assessments and thematic maps.
Monitoring Activities and Results: Develop a monitoring framework with the PM&E officer, including technical sheets for indicators and monitoring matrices. Conduct field monitoring to verify activity implementation and service quality.
Reporting, Analysis, and Information Products: Prepare periodic reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) that meet US Award requirements, including key indicators and population reach.
Ethical Data Management: Apply mechanisms for data consistency and verification, identifying gaps and proposing corrective measures.
Interagency Coordination: Coordinate with implementing partners and participate in interagency spaces to promote technological solutions for data collection and reporting.
Support to UNICEF's Integrated Monitoring System: Assist in strengthening UNICEF's monitoring system for humanitarian and development actions, ensuring data traceability and compliance with reporting obligations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, experience in humanitarian contexts, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of child protection principles and humanitarian standards is essential. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to challenging environments.
Educational Background: A degree in social sciences, international development, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. Relevant certifications in monitoring and evaluation or humanitarian response are advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, humanitarian response, or child protection programs. Experience working with UN agencies or NGOs in similar contexts is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in English is an asset, and knowledge of indigenous languages spoken in Colombia is a plus.
Additional Notes: The contract duration is specified for the period indicated, with potential extensions based on funding availability and operational needs. The monthly living allowance is $8,515,500 COP, covering housing and living expenses. Volunteers are responsible for securing their own accommodation. This position requires full availability and exclusivity with the UN system. National UN Volunteers are part of a damage insurance plan.
