Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UN Women in Ukraine is pivotal in providing programmatic support for the effective management of UN Women’s initiatives in the country. The role involves contributing to the design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of programs aimed at promoting women's leadership and empowerment. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors, and civil society organizations, to ensure successful program implementation. The Programme Analyst will analyze results achieved during program implementation and support the application of appropriate systems and procedures. This position is crucial in addressing the challenges faced by women in Ukraine, particularly in the context of the ongoing conflict, which has exacerbated issues such as gender-based violence and economic exploitation. The Programme Analyst will play a key role in sustaining the gender equality gains achieved prior to the war while addressing emerging challenges and needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute technically to the development of program strategies in the area of Women’s Leadership by providing inputs to the design and formulation of program/project proposals and initiatives.
Provide technical support to the implementation and management of the Women’s Leadership program, including coordinating the annual workplan and budget, monitoring program activities, and reviewing financial and narrative reports from implementing partners.
Monitor and report on program/project progress, ensuring that results and indicators are tracked and reported accurately.
Manage the financial aspects of the Women’s Leadership program, including budget monitoring and revisions, and overseeing the work of Programme Associates and Assistants.
Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, maintaining databases and providing inputs for project documentation.
Support inter-agency coordination on Women’s Leadership, providing technical support to senior representatives and contributing to background reports and briefs.
Assist in advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts by providing inputs for documents, organizing advocacy activities, and developing knowledge management products.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification, such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®, is considered an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, knowledge of gender equality and women's empowerment, and the ability to gather and interpret data effectively.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree along with two additional years of qualifying experience may suffice. A project/programme management certification is also beneficial.
Experience: At least one year of relevant work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in gender equality and women's empowerment is desirable, as is experience in coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable.
