Job Overview:
The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern position is situated within the Social Media Section of the Department of Global Communications at the United Nations. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in social media management and public information dissemination. The intern will engage in various activities that support the Department's communication strategies, particularly through social media platforms. The role requires the intern to be proactive in researching and creating content that aligns with the UN's mission and objectives. The internship is hybrid, allowing for both in-person and remote work, and is expected to last for a duration of three months. Interns will gain valuable insights into the workings of a major international organization while contributing to its outreach efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties that include researching, compiling, drafting, and editing information for social media content, often under tight deadlines. They will monitor and analyze social media statistics to gauge the effectiveness of content. The intern will also gather content during special events such as film screenings, concerts, and exhibits, and assist in creating original posts for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn. Additional responsibilities include attending meetings as an observer, managing meeting agendas, drafting notes, and assisting with special projects as assigned. This role is crucial for enhancing the visibility of the UN's initiatives and engaging with a global audience.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). While professional work experience is not required, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship. Familiarity with software programs such as Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop is desirable, as is an interest in digital photography. Experience with major social media platforms is also beneficial. Applicants should clearly outline their relevant skills and experiences in their application.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a graduate degree or be in the final year of an undergraduate program.
