Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer in Social Protection will work under the supervision of the Chief of Social Policy and the Chief Field Office in Boa Vista. The role involves providing technical support to social assistance and protection agendas in Roraima, facilitating the transition from humanitarian response to sustainable recovery, and advocating for the development of knowledge management plans. The volunteer will engage with various stakeholders, map out barriers to social assistance, and support the implementation of social protection initiatives, particularly for migrants and refugees. This position is critical in ensuring that UNICEF's strategies are effectively executed and that vulnerable populations receive the necessary support and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including: providing technical support to social assistance agendas, planning and implementing transitions from humanitarian to post-emergency recovery, advocating for knowledge management plans, liaising with stakeholders at all levels, mapping out barriers to social assistance, reporting on initiatives in Roraima, coordinating the CadÚnico strategy, supporting evidence generation and needs assessments, assisting in capacity-building activities, and providing updates on activities to UNICEF's Zonal Office. The volunteer will also be encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate into their work and promote volunteerism within the community.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a sound understanding of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) in Brazil. They should have strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, and a commitment to UNICEF's values of Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, Accountability, and Sustainability. The role requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to navigate complex social issues effectively.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, public policy, international relations, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in social protection or humanitarian response would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in social assistance, social protection, or humanitarian response, particularly in the context of Brazil. Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or international organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with the challenges faced by migrants and refugees in Brazil will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, and proficiency in English or Spanish is considered an asset. Knowledge of indigenous languages spoken in Roraima would also be advantageous.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Youth Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials.
