Job Overview:
The UNV Programme Support Associate will play a crucial role in supporting UN Women’s initiatives in Timor-Leste, particularly in the areas of Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) and Governance, Peace and Security (WPS). This position involves working closely with local communities and women leaders to enhance women's participation in decision-making processes and to promote gender equality across various sectors. The associate will assist in implementing program activities, including events, trainings, and workshops aimed at fostering women's leadership in peacebuilding and economic activities. The role also includes contributing to the development of training materials and innovative programs to strengthen the capacities of government and civil society partners in promoting gender equality. Furthermore, the associate will engage in knowledge building, advocacy, and communication efforts related to WEE and WPS, ensuring that the initiatives align with national commitments and international standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UNV Programme Support Associate will undertake a variety of tasks, including: supporting the implementation of UN Women’s program activities, events, trainings, and workshops; contributing to the development of training materials; implementing innovative training programs; assisting in knowledge building and advocacy efforts; monitoring and documenting WPS and WEE knowledge products; preparing relevant documentation such as project summaries and conference presentations; and participating in UNV activities to strengthen understanding of volunteerism. The associate will also be expected to reflect on their voluntary actions, contribute articles for UNV publications, and promote online volunteering within local communities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of operations relevant to UN Women, possess technical capabilities or knowledge transferable to UN Women procedures, and exhibit discretion and political sensitivity. They should have the ability to liaise with various stakeholders, particularly in senior positions, and possess a high degree of autonomy and resourcefulness. Additionally, candidates should be responsive and client-oriented, demonstrating integrity and ethical standards in their daily activities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment are essential, along with a commitment to gender equality and the principles of voluntary engagement.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in social sciences, gender studies, international relations, or a related field is required. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in gender equality, women's rights, or related areas will be preferred. Educational qualifications should align with the responsibilities of the position and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of UN Women.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in program support, project management, or related fields, preferably within the context of gender equality and women's empowerment. Experience working with government agencies, civil society organizations, or international organizations in Timor-Leste or similar contexts is highly desirable. Familiarity with the national and international frameworks related to gender equality and women's rights will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of Portuguese or Tetum is considered an asset. Candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local context will enhance the candidate's suitability for the position.
