Job Overview:
The Security & Safety Analyst position at UN Women is crucial for supporting the integration of security measures into the organization's programmatic processes across Africa. The role involves providing administrative and coordination support under the supervision of the Global advisor" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Advisor based in Nairobi. The Analyst is responsible for maintaining security mainstreaming packages, coordinating training delivery, ensuring policy alignment with the UN Security Management System (UNSMS), and facilitating strategic internal communications. This position requires a proactive approach to managing information flow and supporting the implementation of security measures in various UN Women offices, particularly in crisis situations. The Analyst will also serve as a liaison between the Global Security Advisor and regional/country offices, ensuring that security protocols are effectively communicated and adhered to.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Security Mainstreaming & Training Delivery: Maintain and update the UN Women Security and Safety Mainstreaming package, prepare information briefs and presentations, coordinate educational packages, and track the integration of security measures into planning processes. Respond to technical inquiries and support personnel in utilizing mainstreaming tools.
  • UNSMS Policy Alignment Support: Assist in ensuring that UN Women’s security processes align with UNSMS and other relevant policies, maintain communication with UNSMS representatives, and attend inter-agency meetings to provide summaries and track follow-up actions.
  • Strategic Communications & Intranet Management Support: Update and manage the UN Women Security & Safety Services Section Intranet portal, produce communication materials, and coordinate routine communications with the UN Department of Safety and Security.
  • Humanitarian Response Programming Support: Compile information on security mainstreaming in humanitarian response, maintain guidance documents, and coordinate with colleagues to gather security needs for training and programming.
  • Security Risk Management (SRM) Support: Maintain SRM materials, assist in preparing guidance documents, and track the integration of SRM measures into design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and evaluation processes.
  • Programme Criticality (PC) Support: Support the implementation of the Programme Criticality process, maintain training modules, and review submissions for completeness.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of progressively responsible professional experience in security, safety, political science, international relations, communications, or a related field. Experience in administrative support, information management, or coordination roles is desirable, as is experience within the United Nations. Proficiency in preparing presentations, attending meetings, and updating intranet content is required. Familiarity with content management systems, MS Office Suite, and information tracking tools is essential, while experience with a modern web-based ERP System, preferably Oracle Cloud, is a plus.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in security risk management, international relations, media/communications, security information management, political science, social sciences, or a related discipline is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant professional experience, with a focus on security, safety, or related fields. Candidates should have experience in administrative support, information management, or coordination roles, preferably within the United Nations or an international organization. Experience in preparing presentations, attending meetings, and managing information is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and would be considered an asset.
