Job Overview: The Individual ICT Consultant will provide high-quality ICT support focusing on hardware and software maintenance for UN Women in Moldova. This role involves close collaboration with the Regional and HQ ICT sections to enhance the ICT infrastructure, which includes hardware, software, databases, IT training, and capacity development activities. The consultant is expected to ensure compliance with corporate ICT standards and requirements, report to the Operations Manager, and work alongside the ICT Focal Point for contract and payment issues. The consultant's responsibilities will encompass monitoring corporate ICT strategies, providing technical support for hardware and software, ensuring efficient network administration, managing web services, and offering administrative support regarding ICT matters. The consultant will also provide technical support and advice to country office staff and enforce information security measures while contributing to ICT knowledge management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Continuously monitor changes in corporate ICT strategies and lead the adoption of new technologies in line with corporate standards.
Provide technical support for CO hardware and software, including monitoring ICT equipment, organizing maintenance, and coordinating with third-party services for complex repairs.
Ensure efficient network administration by maintaining office LAN, troubleshooting network issues, and contributing to business continuity and disaster recovery processes.
Manage web services, including support for the CO share-point site.
Provide administrative support for ICT matters, including maintaining inventory and coordinating ICT support for events.
Offer technical support to country office staff, diagnosing and prioritizing requests for assistance.
Enforce information security protocols and contribute to ICT knowledge management by organizing training and maintaining reference materials.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: The position requires completion of secondary education as a minimum, with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field considered an asset. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of ICT systems and practices, particularly in network administration, hardware and software management, and telecommunications. Proficiency in Microsoft operating systems and applications is essential, and experience with SharePoint is advantageous. Additionally, experience working with international organizations will be viewed favorably.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field being an asset. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively managing ICT systems and infrastructure.
Experience: Candidates should possess at least 7 years of progressively responsible work experience in network administration if they have completed secondary education, or 4 years if they hold a Bachelor’s degree. This experience should include the management of hardware, software, and telecommunications facilities, as well as familiarity with Microsoft operating systems and standard productivity tools. Experience with SharePoint and in international organizations is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English and Romanian is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a diverse work environment.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is office-based and does not foresee any travel, with any necessary travel being arranged and financed separately by the Hiring Unit. Payment for the consultant's services will be made upon certification by UN Women that the services have been satisfactorily performed, based on deliverables and timesheets submitted. The consultant's performance will be evaluated based on criteria such as timeliness, responsibility, initiative, communication, accuracy, and quality of deliverables, with a strong emphasis on integrating gender considerations throughout the assignment.
