Job Overview:
The position of VNUC animateur-Point focal communal is crucial for the successful implementation of the Climate Resilience Project in the Nakanbé basin of Burkina Faso. This role involves representing the project at the community level, ensuring that project activities align with the needs and expectations of beneficiaries. The animateur will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on project implementation, contributing to the organization and execution of project activities, and promoting climate risk management practices among local farmers. The animateur will also engage with vulnerable communities to create micro-enterprises and develop alternative livelihoods, fostering a productive social dialogue for project ownership. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying challenges on the ground and providing timely responses in collaboration with project stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the VNUC animateur include: representing the project in the commune of Ziniaré; ensuring alignment of project activities with beneficiary needs; monitoring and reporting on project implementation; contributing to the organization and execution of project activities; continuously collecting information and best practices generated during project implementation; identifying potential issues on the ground and providing timely responses; promoting climate risk management practices among farmers; identifying vulnerable communities and supporting the creation of micro-enterprises; fostering social dialogue for project ownership; ensuring adequate representation of vulnerable groups in project activities; conducting community awareness and training sessions; organizing and participating in feedback sessions through community radios; supporting consultants' activities on the ground; drafting and sharing reports of project events; collecting and transmitting data to the project monitoring and evaluation expert; preparing quarterly activity reports; managing external correspondence; and executing any other tasks assigned by the project coordination unit.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong report writing and formulation abilities, and professionalism in document production and editing. They should have excellent interpersonal skills, be culturally and socially sensitive, and capable of working inclusively with a range of partners, including community members, religious organizations, youth groups, and authorities at various levels. Familiarity with communication tools and approaches for development is essential. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment and adapt professionally. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and familiarity with database management and office equipment is required. Candidates should be motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and able to meet tight deadlines.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in environmental science, social sciences, development studies, or a related field. Candidates with specialized training in climate change adaptation, community development, or project management will be preferred. A strong understanding of local agricultural practices and environmental issues in Burkina Faso will be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in community development, project implementation, or environmental management. Experience working with vulnerable communities and knowledge of climate change adaptation strategies will be highly regarded. Familiarity with the local context in Burkina Faso, particularly in the Nakanbé basin, is essential for effectively engaging with communities and stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Burkina Faso. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Nakanbé basin, such as Moore or Dioula, will be considered an asset, as it will facilitate better communication with local communities and enhance project engagement.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national assignment for a United Nations Volunteer (UNV), and the volunteer will be responsible for organizing their own accommodation and other essential living arrangements. National UN Volunteers are part of the insurance scheme against malice. They must be culturally sensitive and adapt to the dominant culture and traditions. The position is based in the commune where the candidate resides, ensuring proximity to the population. Candidates will specify their preferred area of assignment in their application.
