Job Overview: The AMR and IPC Advisor will play a crucial role in providing technical leadership on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and infection prevention and control (IPC) activities under the STRIDES Jordan Activity. This position is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of AMR and IPC-related project activities, which includes supporting the strengthening of national AMR and IPC systems. The Advisor will work closely with government counterparts, implementing partners, and the project team to ensure that outputs are delivered in a timely and high-quality manner. The role also involves capacity building, donor reporting, and workplan development, ensuring that technical implementation aligns with international best practices and is consistent with Jordan's national health priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The AMR and IPC Advisor will provide technical leadership in AMR and IPC activities, ensuring alignment with Jordan's National Action Plan on AMR and relevant national IPC guidelines. The Advisor will engage with the Ministry of Health and other relevant government entities to support the development and implementation of AMR and IPC strategies, policies, and standards. Responsibilities include strengthening AMR surveillance systems and IPC practices at both facility and national levels, maintaining ongoing technical dialogue with in-country counterparts and stakeholders, and contributing to the development of tools, guidelines, and training materials relevant to AMR and IPC in Jordan. The Advisor will lead the technical implementation of AMR and IPC activities under the STRIDES Jordan workplan, track delivery of outputs against timelines, and ensure compliance with donor contractual obligations. Coordination with operations and finance teams is essential to ensure activities are implemented within budget and on schedule. The Advisor may supervise junior technical staff and short-term consultants, draft technical progress reports, and contribute to donor reporting requirements. Additionally, the Advisor will prepare and deliver presentations on progress to the project team and stakeholders, and serve as a primary author for technical deliverables related to AMR and IPC.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong technical knowledge of AMR, IPC, and related public health areas, including familiarity with the Global Action Plan on AMR and WHO IPC core components. A solid understanding of Jordan's public health system, national AMR and IPC landscape, and relevant government structures is essential. Experience working with government counterparts and national health institutions in Jordan or the broader MENA region is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills, as well as proficiency in MS Office and relevant data management tools. Professional proficiency in both Arabic and English, written and verbal, is mandatory.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or its international equivalent in Public Health, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, or a related field is required. Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in managing complex projects effectively.
Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in AMR, IPC, or a related public health field. A demonstrated track record of designing and implementing AMR and IPC programs is essential. Documented experience leading AMR and IPC activities in Jordan and working with relevant government ministries and partners is required. Candidates should also have relevant publications, presentations, technical reports, and experience developing guidelines, tools, or manuals in the area of AMR and IPC.
