Job Overview: The intern position at the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek is designed to support the communication and public information efforts of the office. The intern will work under the supervision of the National Press and Public Information Officer (NPPIO) and the Public Information Assistant (PIA). The primary responsibilities include assisting in the development of promotional products for social media and other platforms, drafting interviews, talking points, and speeches, and maintaining effective relationships with media representatives. The intern will also be involved in creating multimedia content, providing support during various events, and preparing written outputs such as agendas and briefing papers. This role is crucial for enhancing the visibility of the OSCE's work and ensuring effective communication of its mission and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Assisting the NPPIO and PIA in developing promotional products for social media and other platforms.
Drafting interviews, talking points, scripts, and speeches.
Maintaining an effective network with media representatives.
Developing multimedia content, including photography and videography, and editing materials.
Designing brochures, leaflets, and factsheets.
Providing functional support during various events conducted by the Programme Office across Kyrgyzstan.
Preparing various written outputs such as agendas, briefing papers, and minutes.
Translating texts as requested by supervisors, involving materials in Kyrgyz, Russian, and English.
Maintaining a record of all news publications, posts, videos, and TV/radio airings about the activities of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek. 1
Performing other duties as required by the supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 19 years old and under the age of 3
They should have completed two years of full-time studies from an accredited institution. Preferred fields of study include journalism, public relations, communications, social or political sciences, international relations, or other related fields. Candidates should possess excellent technical skills in photography and videography, as well as knowledge and experience in using photo and video editing software. Strong written and spoken English and Russian language skills are essential, and knowledge of the Kyrgyz language is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the POiB, a results-oriented approach to work, and the ability to work under time pressure. They should also have demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and the ability to work as part of a diverse team while maintaining impartiality and objectivity. Proficiency in Microsoft applications is required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes having completed at least two years of full-time studies at an accredited institution. Candidates should preferably be pursuing or have completed a degree in fields such as journalism, public relations, communications, social or political sciences, international relations, or other related disciplines. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of media affairs and public information in an international context.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of media relations and public communication strategies. Experience in creating multimedia content, such as photography and videography, is highly desirable. Familiarity with social media platforms and their use in promoting organizational activities will be beneficial. The ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure is also important, as the intern will be involved in various events and communication tasks.
Languages: The mandatory languages for this position are English and Russian, with excellent written and spoken proficiency required in both. Knowledge of the Kyrgyz language is considered an asset, as it would enhance communication with local media and stakeholders. The ability to translate texts between these languages is also a key requirement for the role.
Additional Notes: This internship is a short-term position with a full-time schedule. The OSCE is not able to provide any remuneration or cover expenses incurred by the intern during their stay, nor reimburse travel expenses. However, the selected intern may participate in a group health insurance scheme at their own expense. The internship does not guarantee future employment with the OSCE.
