Job Overview: The primary objective of the Regional Coordinator / director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director position is to develop and monitor partnership and financial strategies for the country office. The role requires ensuring high levels of interdepartmental coordination in grant management and providing strategic support on donor relations, external representation, and compliance. The Coordinator will be responsible for mapping donors, monitoring funding opportunities, and making recommendations to the Country Director regarding the office's portfolio and business development. This position also involves meeting with potential donors to present SI's local and regional strategies and intervention logic. The role is challenging due to remote work from Chad, with bases in Sudan and most donors located in Nairobi, Port Sudan, or Addis Ababa. The first few months will focus on diversifying the donor portfolio, capacity building for team members, and refining partnership management systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Regional Coordinator / Country Director include:
Developing and implementing partnership and financial strategies for the country office.
Ensuring effective interdepartmental coordination in grant management.
Providing strategic support on donor relations and external representation.
Mapping donors and monitoring funding opportunities.
Making recommendations to the Country Director on portfolio and business development.
Meeting with new donors to present SI's strategies and intervention logic.
Managing a high workload and adapting to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security constraints.
Leading capacity-building initiatives for the Grants Manager, RCO, and Partnership Manager.
Ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and accountability standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in international relations or program management. They should have 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a similar level of experience in a comparable position. Strong technical skills are required, including experience with BHA, ECHO, UN, and large consortiums, as well as proposal development, reporting, and contractual management. Candidates should also have experience in partnership management and team management, with a focus on capacity building.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in international relations, programs management, or a related field. This advanced degree is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian aid and program management.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in roles that involve coordination, partnership management, and grant management. Experience in a similar position is also necessary to ensure that the candidate can effectively handle the responsibilities of the role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage, while proficiency in French is seen as an asset. These language skills are crucial for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners in the region.

Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses. The organization implements a break system, allowing for time off every three months, and provides a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses. Living conditions in N'Djamena are relatively comfortable, with access to leisure facilities and a large expatriate community, while conditions in Darfur are more challenging, with limited social life and curfews in place.
