Job Overview:
The Field Associate position is a critical role within UNHCR, focusing on field activities in a designated area of responsibility (AoR). The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Associate Protection Officer and will be responsible for monitoring the situation in the AoR, collecting relevant data, and reporting findings to the supervisor. The role requires regular interaction with local authorities, implementing partners, and the refugee community to ensure effective service delivery and problem resolution. The Field Associate will also provide guidance and support to partners, conduct site visits to assess the needs of vulnerable groups, and contribute to the preparation of reports and analyses. This position is essential for maintaining the operational effectiveness of UNHCR's programs and ensuring that the needs of persons of concern are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Associate will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: monitoring the situation in the AoR and collecting data relevant to UNHCR's operations; overseeing the implementation of UNHCR programs and ensuring the delivery of assistance items; providing guidance and support to partners for smooth activity implementation; conducting regular site visits to assess the needs of persons of concern, particularly vulnerable groups; maintaining regular contact with local authorities and implementing partners; acting as an interpreter when necessary; contributing to the preparation of status and progress reports; assisting with administrative tasks such as report preparation and field mission support; responding to reports concerning persons of concern; assisting in the reception, registration, and provision of assistance to persons of concern; negotiating with local authorities and partners; representing UNHCR in project monitoring; and analyzing political, social, and economic developments in the AoR to assess their impact on UNHCR operations.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires specific qualifications, including a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Candidates should possess functional skills such as IT literacy, field experience, and proficiency in drafting and documentation. Additionally, candidates should have experience in multi-stakeholder communications and program management, particularly in project formulation and reporting standards. Completion of UNHCR’s mandatory learning programs or specific training relevant to the position is desirable, as is prior field experience with UNHCR.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a High School Diploma with three years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with two years of relevant work experience. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of the position, emphasizing the importance of practical knowledge and skills applicable to field operations and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience for candidates with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. This experience should be in areas related to humanitarian assistance, field operations, or similar roles that involve direct interaction with communities and stakeholders. Candidates with prior experience in UNHCR or similar organizations will be at an advantage.

Languages:
Knowledge of English is mandatory, along with proficiency in the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English. For national professional jobs, knowledge of the local language is also required. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication with local authorities, partners, and the refugee community.
