Job Overview: The Dengue Manager, Asia will lead CHAI’s dengue portfolio across South East Asia, under the supervision of the Associate Director, Dengue – Malaria & NTDs. This regional leadership position is responsible for executing regional strategies, prioritizing countries, and managing performance across the dengue portfolio in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). The role involves driving strategic direction, engaging with countries, and ensuring alignment with CHAI’s global dengue strategy. The Dengue Manager will oversee country dengue workstreams, guide implementation planning, and serve as the primary regional counterpart for Ministries of Health and key partners on dengue control initiatives, including Wolbachia-based interventions. Frequent travel and sustained engagement with health ministries and partners are essential components of this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Regional Coordination: Lead and manage CHAI’s dengue portfolio across the Greater Mekong Subregion, ensuring accountability for regional performance and impact. Set regional priorities and guide strategic trade-offs in alignment with CHAI’s dengue strategy. Represent CHAI with Ministries of Health and key regional partners as the senior regional dengue focal point.
Strategy, Planning & Program Management: Translate regional strategy into actionable country workplans with clear milestones and deliverables. Lead planning and readiness management, maintaining trackers for regulatory, community engagement, and operational needs. Synthesize technical intelligence into high-quality program outputs.
Field Implementation & Operational Support: Provide coordination support for Wolbachia deployments, ensuring alignment across teams and facilitating troubleshooting. Oversee operational processes with Ministries of Health, ensuring alignment in procurement and implementation workflows. Support capacity building and stakeholder engagement through training and structured engagement with local leaders.
Evidence, Surveillance & Data Use: Design and utilize monitoring frameworks to track program progress and performance. Strengthen data-driven decision-making through dashboards and structured reporting. Document lessons learned and support regional knowledge sharing.
Budgeting, Grants & Reporting: Support budgeting and financial tracking across regional dengue workstreams. Develop donor-facing materials and contribute to proposal development and funding opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience in fields such as public health, Entomology, Epidemiology, or Public Administration.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in project management, public health programs, or vector-borne disease initiatives. Experience working with government counterparts and multidisciplinary teams is essential.
Technical & Management Skills: Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills. Ability to learn technical content quickly and translate it into operational guidance. Problem-solving skills and comfort in dynamic environments are crucial.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with government partners and colleagues. Ability to produce clear presentations and reports for diverse audiences.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as public health, Entomology, Epidemiology, or Public Administration is preferred, along with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience is acceptable.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or at least 4 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in project management, public health programs, or vector-borne disease initiatives is essential, along with experience working with government counterparts and multidisciplinary teams.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Additional language skills relevant to the region may be advantageous but are not specified as mandatory.
