Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position at UN Women in Cox's Bazar is crucial for supporting the Programme Team in developing and implementing effective programs that align with UN Women’s rules and regulations. The role involves providing comprehensive operational, administrative, and programmatic support, ensuring that the programs are executed efficiently and effectively. The Programme Associate will work closely with various personnel in the Country Office and the UN Women Regional Office to resolve complex finance-related issues and facilitate the exchange of information. This position is particularly significant as it contributes to UN Women’s humanitarian response program aimed at addressing the needs of vulnerable Rohingya refugee women and girls, as well as women in host communities affected by the refugee influx. The Programme Associate will play a key role in ensuring that these women have equitable access to life-saving humanitarian assistance and support their participation in community leadership and peace-building activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the formulation and management of programmes, including preparing work plans, budgets, and proposals; offering technical guidance on routine delivery and reporting; preparing information for audits; and compiling data for documents and reports.
  • Support financial management of the Programme Unit by creating projects in PRISM and Quantum systems, preparing budget revisions, monitoring budget preparation, reviewing financial reports, and processing payments.
  • Undertake logistical and administrative arrangements for meetings, workshops, and events, including travel arrangements for the Programme Team and preparing public information materials.
  • Assist in resource mobilization by preparing agreements, following up on contributions, and compiling information from various stakeholders.
  • Facilitate knowledge building and sharing by supporting the synthesis of lessons learned and organizing training for office personnel and partners.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires completion of secondary education as a minimum, with a Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration being desirable. Candidates should possess strong administrative skills and be able to execute administrative processes and transactions effectively. Additionally, candidates should have good knowledge of programme management and the ability to create, edit, and present information clearly. Strong financial and budgeting skills, as well as proficiency in IT, are also essential for this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration being preferred. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the administrative and programmatic functions required by the position.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or programme management/support. Experience in a computer environment using multiple office software packages is required, along with experience in supporting a team. Familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable, as it will enhance the candidate's ability to manage financial and administrative tasks effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bengali is required for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another language such as Chittagonion or Rohingya is considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with the local communities and enhance the effectiveness of the humanitarian response efforts.
