Job Overview: The GiHA Programme and CoordinationAnalyst is responsible for coordinating the gender in humanitarian action programming portfolio in Cox’s Bazar, overseeing the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) projects, and implementing gender-responsive climate action and disaster risk reduction initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with national partners and stakeholders, monitoring and reporting on project progress, and supporting financial and personnel management. The Analyst will work closely with the programme and operation teams in the Sub-Office and Country Office, engaging with UN agencies, local organizations, and government counterparts to ensure a coherent response to gender equality priorities in the humanitarian context. The position requires a proactive approach to inter-agency coordination and the ability to provide technical support and capacity development to partners involved in humanitarian action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical and coordination support to humanitarian action planning and strategies, including inputs to annual plans and resource mobilization for initiatives.
Support the implementation and management of humanitarian action projects, ensuring alignment with strategic documents and maintaining systems for project planning and risk management.
Provide technical support and capacity development for partners, facilitating training and initiatives on gender-responsive humanitarian action.
Monitor and report on project activities, results, and finances, ensuring adherence to results-based management tools.
Coordinate the effective functioning of the GiHA Chapter in Cox’s Bazar, contributing to national work planning processes and inter-agency coordination platforms.
Advocate for knowledge management and communication on GiHA, documenting promising practices and supporting the development of guidance notes.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in gender/women’s studies, public administration, law, human rights, gender equality, social sciences, or related fields. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP® is considered an advantage. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in development and/or humanitarian programme implementation, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building, particularly in gender equality programming in humanitarian settings.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as gender/women’s studies, public administration, law, human rights, gender equality, or social sciences. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may also be accepted. A project/programme management certification is a plus.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience at the national or sub-national level in development and/or humanitarian programme implementation. Experience in gender equality programming in humanitarian contexts, particularly related to the Rohingya refugee response, is highly desirable. Familiarity with managing projects implemented by local women-led organizations and contributing to inter-agency coordination in humanitarian crises is also beneficial. Proficiency in using computers and office software, as well as experience with web-based management systems, is required.
Languages: Fluency in English and Bengali is mandatory. Knowledge of Chittagongian and/or Rohingya is considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local communities.
Additional Notes: The position is full-time and involves leading a team of three personnel, including one Programme Associate and two consultants. The role requires adherence to UN Women’s policies and procedures, including a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with the aims of the United Nations.
