Job Overview: The consultant will work under the technical guidance and supervision of the UN Women Head of Sub-Office in Cox’s Bazar, with a primary reporting line to the Programme Officer for Women’s Economic Empowerment. The consultant's main task will be to support the technical strengthening and finalization of a research analysis on the livelihoods and economic resilience of Rohingya and host community women. This involves providing substantive technical editing, ensuring clarity and coherence in the report, validating primary and secondary data, and conducting a quality assurance review of the analysis. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring that the report aligns with UN Women’s strategic priorities and the humanitarian-development nexus approach, and will produce a finalized, quality-assured Gender Analysis report, a stakeholder presentation, and a final editorial note documenting the revision process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Review, Analytical Strengthening, and Narrative Coherence: The consultant will provide substantive technical editing to improve clarity, structure, and logical flow of the report. This includes ensuring consistency in analytical framing and harmonizing the report for coherence across sections.
Evidence Verification and Validation of Primary Data: The consultant will review and validate all secondary data, ensuring accuracy and relevance, and will cross-check key factual statements against literature to ensure credibility.
Quality Assurance and Analytical Coherence: Conduct a final quality assurance review of each chapter to ensure methodological robustness and strategic relevance.
Deliverables: The consultant will produce a finalized Gender Analysis report, a quality-assured stakeholder presentation, and a short technical note documenting the revision process and quality assurance.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in international development, economics, social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, refugee studies, or a related field. Additionally, at least 5 years of specific experience in gender equality and/or women’s empowerment is required, including experience working with women’s civil society organizations and in humanitarian action. Previous experience in gender analysis and capacity development is also necessary, along with knowledge of the Rohingya refugee response and coordination architecture.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as international development, economics, social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or refugee studies.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of specific experience in the field of gender equality and/or women’s empowerment, including work with women’s civil society organizations and in humanitarian action. Previous experience in gender analysis and capacity development is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

The consultant will work from home, and travel to Cox’s Bazar is not required. If unforeseen travel is necessary, UN Women will cover travel expenses and provide a per-diem based on the United Nations Daily Subsistence Allowance rate. The payment schedule is linked to the satisfactory completion of deliverables, with 60% of the payment due upon submission of the Gender Analysis report and 40% upon submission of the stakeholder presentation.
