The role involves mapping key intervention models and investment types utilized by governments and development partners, identifying effective strategies, and translating research findings into actionable recommendations for ADB projects and policy-based lending. The intern will also support the preparation of knowledge products and develop presentations for internal audiences, contributing to the overall mission of ADB in promoting gender equality and sustainable development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for conducting comprehensive analytical research on gender-responsive and inclusive social protection systems. This includes examining women's life-course risks, barriers to access, and the coverage of informal workers. The intern will map key intervention models and investment types, identify effective strategies, and translate findings into practical recommendations for ADB projects. Additionally, the intern will support the preparation of 1-2 knowledge products, such as working papers or summary notes, and develop presentations for internal audiences, ensuring that the findings are communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders. The intern will also be expected to contribute to a synthesized evidence review on global and regional trends in gender-responsive social protection, highlighting good practices and implementation lessons.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a master's degree program in fields such as Gender Studies, Public Policy, Social Policy, Development Studies, Economics, Sociology, International Development, or related social sciences. A strong academic background in gender equality, social protection, social inclusion, or poverty and vulnerability analysis is preferred. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a keen interest in gender equality and inclusive development, with a preference for those who have 2-3 years of professional experience in conducting literature reviews, synthesizing research, or supporting analytical studies. Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills are essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English.
