Job Overview: The STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Indonesia director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director is responsible for leading and directing technical focus areas to enhance global healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security in priority countries. This role involves aligning technical frameworks and activities with normative guidelines and standards, identifying partnership needs, and ensuring technical performance. The Technical Director collaborates closely with technical leads and the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Advisor to implement the Activity’s technical approach, ensuring compliance with U.S. Government health security priorities. The position is accountable for the successful delivery of technical aspects and reporting throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Director serves as the technical lead and primary contact for relevant topics, providing direction for the development of country-specific workplans and budgets. They ensure that high-quality technical deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget, including workplans and reports. The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with STRIDES contracts and government regulations, responding to client inquiries on technical matters, and ensuring that technical activities support monitoring and evaluation efforts. They assess subcontractor performance, promote STRIDES successes through communication efforts, and represent the project at global health security events. Additionally, the Technical Director supports the professional development of direct reports and performs other assigned duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of contract and project management, as well as technical development practices. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities. The ability to influence and motivate others, exercise judgment in selecting methods for obtaining solutions, and ensure compliance with budgets and performance requirements is critical. Leadership, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking are also necessary for success in this role.
Educational Background: A Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious Disease, Laboratory Science, or Health Systems Strengthening is required. Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in managing complex projects effectively.
Experience: The position typically requires a minimum of 12 years of relevant technical or project management experience, including at least 8 years in a leadership role. Experience working with government health ministries and in international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is preferred, particularly with U.S. Government-funded contracts, which is strongly favored.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Additional language skills are considered a bonus, enhancing communication capabilities within diverse teams and communities.
