The intern will conduct research that includes literature analysis, stakeholder surveys, and workshops with subject matter experts. The expected outcome of this internship is a detailed report that outlines the overarching issues, contributing factors, international best practices, and recommendations for applying these systems within the MDB context.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough study of contractor performance management systems used in both private and public sectors globally.
Analyze and contrast these systems with those currently in use on MDB-financed projects.
Focus on identifying key components that contribute to effective performance management in various contexts.
Investigate the tools and methodologies used to incentivize good contractor performance and penalize poor performance.
Engage in literature analysis to gather existing knowledge on the subject.
Conduct stakeholder surveys to gather insights from relevant parties involved in contractor performance management.
Organize and facilitate workshops with subject matter experts to discuss findings and gather additional input.
Compile a comprehensive report detailing the overarching problem, contributing factors, best practices, and actionable recommendations for MDBs.
Required Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a master's degree program or PhD in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Public Procurement, Public Policy, Law, or related fields.
Demonstrated knowledge or experience in construction contract management and contract performance management on infrastructure projects.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
Educational Background: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a master's degree program or pursuing a PhD in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Public Procurement, Public Policy, Law, or other related disciplines. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to conduct the required research and analysis effectively.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in areas related to construction contract management, contract performance management, or similar activities. This experience will provide the intern with a practical understanding of the challenges and best practices in managing contractor performance, especially in the context of MDB-financed projects.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills required for effective reporting and stakeholder engagement. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory for this position.
