Job Overview:

The intern will engage in a variety of tasks that are crucial for the analysis and screening of investment funds and co-investment transactions across developing member countries. This role involves conducting comprehensive market, sector, and financial analyses, which includes reviewing fund structures, business models, financial statements, and performance metrics. The intern will also assist in preparing internal briefing materials, concept notes, and presentations that are essential for management and investment committee discussions. Additionally, the intern will undertake desk research focused on private equity, infrastructure, and capital markets trends that are relevant to ADB's private sector operations and strategic priorities. A significant aspect of this internship will be to review and refine the existing framework for measuring development impact in private equity funds, working closely with PSOD's development effectiveness team. The expected outcome of this internship is the preparation and presentation of a report that proposes enhancements to ADB's Design and Monitoring Framework (DMF) for measuring the development impact of private equity fund investments, including the development of sector-specific DMF templates to improve the consistency, relevance, and measurability of impact outcomes across key sectors such as healthcare, financial services, and climate infrastructure.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting investment teams in various capacities, including but not limited to:
  • Assisting in the screening and analysis of funds and co-investment transactions across developing member countries.
  • Conducting detailed market, sector, and financial analysis, which involves reviewing fund structures, business models, financial statements, and performance metrics.
  • Preparing internal briefing materials, concept notes, and presentations for management and investment committee discussions.
  • Undertaking desk research on private equity, infrastructure, and capital markets trends that are relevant to ADB's private sector operations and strategic priorities.
  • Reviewing and refining the existing framework for measuring development impact in private equity funds in collaboration with PSOD's development effectiveness team.
  • Preparing a report that proposes enhancements to ADB's Design and Monitoring Framework (DMF) for measuring the development impact of private equity fund investments, including the development of sector-specific DMF templates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a master's degree program or PhD in corporate finance, accounting, or a related field. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks. Proficiency in Excel and valuation techniques, as well as strong writing skills, are essential for this role. Prior experience in private equity, investment banking, or consulting is preferred, and candidates should ideally have 2-3 years of relevant professional experience.

Educational Background:
