Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to water, food, and shelter. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. SI operates in 26 countries with a total of 3,200 staff members, including expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers. SI's teams work with professionalism and commitment while respecting local cultures. In Haiti, SI has been active since 2004, responding to emergencies and crises, including the aftermath of Hurricane Jeanne, the 2016 cyclone, the 2021 earthquake, and various epidemics. SI is a key player in the EHA sector, food security, livelihoods, and nutrition, focusing on the most vulnerable populations, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities. Currently, SI operates in 17 displacement sites in Delmas, Cité-Soleil, and Port-au-Prince, improving access to water and sanitation infrastructure and contributing to the prevention of waterborne diseases. SI also addresses immediate needs through income-generating activities and nutritional prevention actions targeting children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. The mission is undergoing restructuring, with a team composed of 14 expatriates and 75 national employees, and will have a coordination office and a base in Port-au-Prince starting in March 2026.

Job Overview:
The Grants Manager will be integrated into the coordination team located in the capital and will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director (CD). The Grants Manager will work closely with program and support departments, as well as field teams. The primary objective of the position is to contribute to the strategic development of the mission by identifying funding opportunities in line with SI's national and global strategy. The Grants Manager will coordinate various departments during the drafting of project proposals, reports, and contract modification requests to be submitted to donors. It is essential to anticipate all programmatic deadlines to ensure the quality of project development and compliance with donor contractual deadlines. This includes overseeing the compilation of project proposals, reports, and contract modification requests while adhering to the highest quality standards. The Grants Manager will also monitor compliance with donor procedures and enhance the capacity of teams regarding accountability tools and donor procedures. Proactive follow-up on donor contractual obligations from contract signing to closure and archiving is crucial, ensuring that all departments are aware of and understand these obligations. The role also involves centralizing and preparing documentation necessary for external audits and ensuring compliance with all mission archives. The Grants Manager will coordinate donor audit activities on the ground in close collaboration with various mission and headquarters departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the mission by identifying funding opportunities.

  • Ensure timely completion of project development and compliance with donor contractual deadlines.
  • Supervise the compilation of project proposals, reports, and contract modification requests, ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Monitor compliance with donor procedures and strengthen team capacities regarding accountability tools.
  • Proactively follow up on donor contractual obligations from contract signing to closure and archiving.
  • Centralize and prepare documentation for external audits and ensure compliance with mission archives.
  • Contribute to the development of internal and external communication materials.
  • Coordinate donor audit activities on the ground with mission and headquarters departments.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Development, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of donor funding platforms, rules, and procedures of various institutional donors.
  • Mastery of project cycle management.
  • Experience in reporting/project proposals with various donors and/or experience in managing projects funded by institutional donors (field experience required).
  • Excellent writing skills in French and English, along with analytical and synthesis abilities.
  • Sufficient administrative/financial knowledge to understand/review financial reports/budgets.
  • Knowledge of the Haitian context and experience with SI is a plus.
  • Strong planning, anticipation, organization, and coordination skills to manage a significant daily workload with numerous internal and external requests.
  • Ability to work under stress, with a strong sense of diplomacy and experience in intercultural environments. 1
  • Team spirit and the ability to coordinate team members without being their hierarchical manager.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in fields such as Political Science, International Relations, International Development, or a related discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian aid and the operational environment in which SI functions.

Experience:
Candidates should have substantial experience in grants and partnership management, particularly in the humanitarian sector. This includes experience in project cycle management, reporting, and proposal writing for various institutional donors. Field experience is mandatory, as it provides practical insights into the challenges and realities of implementing humanitarian projects.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and English is mandatory for this position. Excellent writing skills in both languages are essential for drafting reports, proposals, and communication materials. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The position is a short-term contract based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The salary is competitive, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2100 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, along with a monthly per diem of USD 75
  • SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. A break system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with an additional day of rest for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from comprehensive health insurance covering all medical expenses, including dental and optical care, as well as repatriation. Vaccination and malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. Accommodation is provided in a secure guest house with individual rooms, located 1 km from the office, featuring amenities such as a swimming pool and tennis court. The office is situated in a residential area, ensuring a comfortable working environment.
