This project, funded by the Government of Norway, aims to enhance the participation and leadership of women and girls in peace and security processes while creating a supportive national environment. The coordinator will be responsible for overseeing project activities in the Sofala and Manica provinces, ensuring that the project objectives are met effectively. This includes leading training sessions on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GEWE) and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), integrating gender equality strategies into project operations, and fostering relationships with various stakeholders. The role requires a strong commitment to empowering women and girls and transforming crises into opportunities for growth and resilience.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Field Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Providing advanced administrative and logistical support for program formulation and management, including work plans, budgets, and proposals.
Offering technical guidance to country offices and executing agencies on program delivery and reporting.
Coordinating the collection of information for program audits and supporting the implementation of audit recommendations.
Coordinating training for office personnel and partners on program-related issues. 1
Engaging in advocacy and awareness-raising events related to gender issues, ensuring effective representation of the country office in interagency coordination groups.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong administrative and logistical skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. They should have experience in program management and financial oversight, as well as familiarity with gender equality and women's empowerment issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with stakeholders and partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the values of UN Women and have the ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, gender studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the position.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in program management, particularly in areas related to gender equality, women's empowerment, or peace and security. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the UN system and its operational procedures.
Languages: Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory, as these are the primary languages of communication in the project. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in Mozambique may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment, meaning that the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The role is based in Pemba, Mozambique, and requires cultural sensitivity and adaptability to local customs and traditions.
