Job Overview: The position involves working as an Individual Consultant to support the Provincial Support for the PASBET (Provincial Action for Sustainable Biomass Energy Transition) Project. The consultant will be responsible for the development of a National Roadmap aimed at promoting sustainable biomass energy systems in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, Sindh, and Baluchistan. This role is crucial in facilitating the transition towards sustainable energy solutions, which are essential for addressing energy needs while minimizing environmental impacts. The consultant will engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and industry representatives, to gather insights and foster collaboration. The assignment is expected to commence in March 2026 and will span over a period of six months, with a total of 48 working days allocated for each position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of the current biomass energy systems in KP, Punjab, Sindh, and Baluchistan.
Engage with stakeholders to identify challenges and opportunities in the biomass energy sector.
Develop a detailed National Roadmap that outlines strategies for promoting sustainable biomass energy systems.
Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather input and feedback from stakeholders.
Prepare and present reports on findings and recommendations to UNDP and relevant government bodies.
Collaborate with local experts and organizations to ensure the roadmap is practical and achievable.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the roadmap, providing ongoing support and adjustments as necessary.
Ensure compliance with UNDP procurement and operational guidelines throughout the project.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex energy systems and propose viable solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and procurement processes is an advantage.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Sustainable Development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or renewable energy systems will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in energy systems, policy development, or project management is required. Experience working with international organizations or government agencies on energy-related projects is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Urdu or any local languages spoken in the provinces of KP, Punjab, Sindh, and Baluchistan is considered an asset, as it will facilitate better communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is six months, with a total of 48 working days. The role is classified as an individual contractor position, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and benefits may include travel allowances and other relevant expenses as per UNDP policies.
