Job Overview: The National Specialist Volunteer will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Coordinator for Peru and in coordination with the technical team of ONU Mujeres Peru. This position is remote and involves providing technical assistance in implementing the program 'Safe Cities and Public Spaces for Women and Girls' in the San Miguel district. The role includes strengthening the capacities of public servants, community actors, and civil society organizations in preventing sexual harassment and other forms of violence against women in public and digital spaces. The volunteer will also support technical coordination with local authorities and contribute to the design and implementation of tools and materials that enhance institutional responses with a gender perspective. Additionally, the volunteer will engage in participatory processes with community organizations and develop communication content to highlight the progress and results of ONU Mujeres' interventions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Specialist Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: providing technical assistance in the implementation of the program; supporting coordination with local government and security committees; contributing to the design and validation of technical materials; analyzing project information and generating reports; facilitating participatory processes with community organizations; developing communication content for various audiences; updating communication channels; assisting in the preparation of presentations and public events; drafting Terms of Reference for project-related contracts; monitoring project implementation and preparing periodic reports; providing technical support to other ONU Mujeres initiatives in Peru; and performing other necessary tasks to achieve project objectives. The volunteer is also encouraged to engage in the UNV program's mandate and promote volunteer action through community participation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong technical skills in gender equality and violence prevention, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative spirit. They should be adaptable, creative, and capable of making sound judgments. The role requires a commitment to the principles of volunteerism and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Familiarity with the local context and issues related to women's rights and safety is essential.
Educational Background: A degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field is required. Advanced studies or certifications in gender equality, violence prevention, or community development would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in project implementation, particularly in areas related to gender equality and violence prevention. Experience working with community organizations, local governments, or international organizations is highly desirable. The ability to analyze data and generate reports is also important.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position requires communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in English is a plus, as it may facilitate collaboration with international teams and access to global resources.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time volunteer position, and the volunteer will be responsible for securing their own housing and living essentials. The UN Volunteer will receive a monthly living allowance of 5,009 soles to cover living expenses, health insurance, life insurance, and a resettlement allowance upon successful completion of service. The position includes annual leave, medical leave, and parental leave if applicable. Volunteers are expected to commit fully to their role and should not have any employment ties with other entities.
