Job Overview: The Driver position at UN Women is crucial for providing reliable and safe driving services to UN Women personnel, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors. Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver's primary responsibilities include providing reliable and secure driving services, which entails driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport. The Driver must ensure that all passengers wear seatbelts and take immediate actions required by rules and regulations in case of accidents. The role also involves maintaining daily vehicle logs, ensuring the vehicle is kept clean and in good working condition, and performing minor repairs while arranging for major repairs as needed. The Driver is responsible for maintaining all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, assisting office personnel with administrative tasks such as filing and photocopying, and performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary education and possess a valid driver's license. The position requires excellent driving skills, a good knowledge of driving rules and regulations, local roads, and conditions, as well as defensive driving skills. The ability to perform minor vehicle repairs and a commitment to punctuality are also essential qualifications for this role.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid driver's license, which is mandatory for performing the driving duties associated with this role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional driving experience, preferably with an international organization, embassy, or within the UN system. A proven record of safe and responsible driving is essential. Desirable experience includes five or more years of driving experience with UN Agencies in Burundi, as well as familiarity with UN security, safety, and logistical procedures.
Languages: Fluency in Kirundi and French is required, as these are the languages of the duty station. A working knowledge of English is also necessary. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's profile.
