Job Overview:
The Graphic Designer position at FAO involves creating visual communication materials that align with the organization's corporate standards. The role is crucial for enhancing the visibility of FAO's projects and initiatives through effective graphic design. The designer will work closely with the FAO Representative in Cambodia and the Team Leader of Communications, ensuring that all materials produced are not only visually appealing but also technically accurate and culturally appropriate. The position requires a strong understanding of visual communication principles and the ability to convey complex messages through design. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for producing a variety of materials, including publications, factsheets, and promotional items, while adhering to FAO's branding guidelines and clearance processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Graphic Designer will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: designing layouts for project publications, factsheets, booklets, and other communication materials; enhancing and refining artwork, photographs, charts, and visual elements to meet FAO standards; developing visibility materials such as branded T-shirts, caps, and water bottles; creating clear and functional templates that effectively convey key messages; identifying and developing layouts appropriate for different product types and target audiences; consulting with editors to ensure technical and cultural appropriateness; submitting design proposals for review and final approval; coordinating with external vendors and suppliers to ensure high-quality production; and performing multiple rounds of corrections as necessary to meet quality standards. The designer will also maintain liaison with the Office of Communications and Corporate Partnerships (OCC) to ensure compliance with FAO standards and guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Communications or Graphic Design, or a professional certificate or diploma in Graphic Design. Additionally, a minimum of three years of relevant experience in graphic design or a related field is required. Candidates should demonstrate a working knowledge of English at level C and fluency in Khmer. Furthermore, candidates should exhibit core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in Communications or Graphic Design, or a professional certificate or diploma in Graphic Design. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the principles of design, visual communication, and the technical skills necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in graphic design or a related field. Candidates should have proven experience in publication layout and visual communication, as well as familiarity with branding and corporate identity guidelines. Experience coordinating with editors, printers, and external vendors is also essential, along with knowledge of FAO or United Nations communication standards being considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in Khmer is mandatory, and candidates must have a working knowledge of English at level C. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly in a multicultural and international context.

This position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work location. The role is full-time and may involve collaboration with teams across different time zones. Candidates should be prepared to manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines. The selection process will include an assessment of the quality, creativity, and relevance of the submitted graphic design portfolio, as well as technical proficiency in professional design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva.
