Job Overview: The MHPSS Training and Capacity Building Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of training and capacity-building sessions aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of agencies and organizations involved in providing support to international protection seekers. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission in Ireland and the Head of the MHPSS Unit, directly reporting to the Senior Training Associate. This position involves assisting in the preparation and organization of training activities, providing logistical and administrative support, and ensuring that training materials are up-to-date and relevant. The role requires a proactive approach to collecting feedback from participants and documenting observations for internal review, as well as maintaining awareness of policies and standards related to the rights of international protection applicants in Ireland. The assistant will also support internal training activities and staff learning initiatives coordinated by other IOM Dublin Units, contributing to a collaborative and effective training environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Senior Training Associate in preparing and organizing training activities for agencies and organizations supporting international protection seekers, including logistics and training materials.
Provide logistical and administrative support for training sessions, including preparation of materials, participant lists, and venue arrangements.
Collect feedback from training participants and document observations for internal review.
Support updates to training materials by incorporating agreed changes and adapting content as necessary.
Assist with data collection and record-keeping related to agencies and training participants, and draft session summaries and inputs for reports.
Maintain awareness of relevant policies, standards, and good practices related to the rights of international protection applicants in Ireland.
Provide administrative and logistical support to internal training activities and staff learning initiatives coordinated by other IOM Dublin Units.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Development, Psychology, Political or Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience; or a high school diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.
Familiarity with international standards and best practices related to displacement and integration.
Experience in working in a multicultural environment is an advantage.
Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU Agencies, and/or Irish law enforcement or Government Departments is considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Development, Psychology, Political or Social Sciences, Law, or International Relations from an accredited institution. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma must have five years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: The position requires experience in assisting with the organization or delivery of training or educational activities. Candidates should have experience liaising with State agencies and non-governmental organizations in Ireland, as well as familiarity with international standards and issues related to displacement and integration. Experience in a multicultural environment is advantageous, and previous work with international organizations or government departments is a plus.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, both oral and written. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in additional languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Ireland will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary government authorizations. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
