Job Overview:
The MHPSS Training and Capacity Building Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS) initiatives for international protection seekers in Ireland. This position involves working closely with the Chief of Mission and the Head of the MHPSS Unit to implement a comprehensive training plan aimed at enhancing the capacity of agencies and organizations that support these vulnerable populations. The coordinator will be responsible for developing training materials, conducting needs assessments, and ensuring that training sessions are effectively delivered and evaluated. The role requires a strong understanding of the psychosocial needs of migrants and the ability to foster collaboration among various stakeholders in the migration management sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the MHPSS management team in preparing and implementing a training plan and developing training materials for agencies and organizations that assist international protection seekers.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies and stakeholders to identify capacity-building needs and contribute to conducting needs assessments.
  • Coordinate the delivery and logistical aspects of training sessions, gather participant feedback, and integrate lessons learned into training materials.
  • Organize and maintain data related to training participants and agencies, and assist in preparing narrative summaries for reporting purposes.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the training team, including resource coordination and scheduling of training activities.
  • Facilitate internal staff development activities and training coordination with other units, promoting knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Stay informed about relevant policies, standards, and best practices regarding the rights of international protection applicants in Ireland.
  • Support monitoring activities related to training and capacity-building components, ensuring adherence to established procedures.
  • Assist in collecting and preparing data for monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and external communication. 1
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the management team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma with six years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Development, Psychology, Political or Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with four years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should demonstrate sound experience in supporting training and capacity-building activities, coordinating project activities, and liaising with state agencies and NGOs in Ireland. A strong understanding of international standards and best practices related to displacement and integration is essential, as is experience working in a multicultural environment. Previous experience with international organizations, NGOs, EU agencies, or Irish law enforcement or government departments is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes either a high school diploma with six years of relevant professional experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Development, Psychology, Political or Social Sciences, Law, or International Relations. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to migration management and psychosocial support.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or six years if they possess only a high school diploma. Experience should include supporting training and capacity-building initiatives, coordinating project activities, and working collaboratively with teams and partners. Familiarity with the operations of state agencies and NGOs in Ireland is preferred, as is an understanding of the challenges faced by displaced individuals and the integration process. Experience in a multicultural setting is advantageous, and prior involvement with international organizations or governmental bodies will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. As IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may involve written and/or oral assessments. Candidates who possess additional language skills may have an advantage in the selection process, particularly if those languages are relevant to the populations served by IOM.

The position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Ireland will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification, verification of residency, and compliance with any necessary governmental authorizations.
