Job Overview:
The Project Assistant will work under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Ireland and will be guided by the Immigration and Border Governance Programme Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with the processing of applications for Temporary Protection for Ukrainian Nationals and Third Country Nationals fleeing Ukraine and arriving in Ireland. This role involves supporting the collection, verification, and review of documentation from applicants, providing information on the Temporary Protection Directive, and acting as a focal point for beneficiaries at the Cork Registration Centre. The Project Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining beneficiary data, drafting reports, and ensuring compliance with IOM Data Protection Principles. The position requires effective communication with various stakeholders and the ability to identify vulnerable cases during interviews.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in processing applications for Temporary Protection for Ukrainian Nationals and Third Country Nationals.
  • Support the collection, verification, and review of documentation from applicants.
  • Provide information on the Temporary Protection Directive to applicants.
  • Act as a focal point for beneficiaries at the Cork Registration Centre.
  • Identify indicators of vulnerable cases during interviews and refer them to appropriate services.
  • Assist beneficiaries in completing application and registration forms.
  • Maintain and update beneficiary data in governmental platforms.
  • Draft routine reports on work performed.
  • Provide informal translation and interpretation services. 1
  • Maintain effective working relationships with local stakeholders. 1
  • Follow procedures to prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of records. 1
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for project activities. 1
  • Apply confidentiality and data protection requirements when handling sensitive information. 1
  • Provide operational support to other duty stations as needed. 1
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Psychology, or related fields with three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable groups.
  • Experience in a multicultural setting and with asylum seekers and refugees is preferred.
  • Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations is an advantage.
  • Strong intercultural competence and communication skills are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess either a High School diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or Psychology, along with three years of relevant professional experience. The educational qualifications must be from accredited universities recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or five years for those with a High School diploma. Experience should include working with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable populations, as well as familiarity with asylum processes and humanitarian contexts. Experience in a multicultural environment is highly valued, and prior work with international organizations is considered advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory, both oral and written. Proficiency in any other IOM official language, such as French or Spanish, is considered an advantage. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
