Job Overview: The STRIDES Malawi Program Manager will play a crucial role in providing program management support and coordination to ensure the successful execution of the STRIDES activity in Malawi. This position involves overseeing project planning, execution, monitoring, and tracking of contractual deliverables. The Program Manager will be responsible for streamlining communications, identifying and resolving project issues, and implementing improvement plans to ensure adherence to project scope and budget. The role requires collaboration with team members and stakeholders to integrate work plans and budgets, which are essential for the project's success and sustainability. The Program Manager will also ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, regularly evaluate project progress, and provide capacity-building support in project and operations management as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Manager will provide management support throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring effective coordination and implementation of project activities. Key responsibilities include: supporting and managing capacity strengthening of project staff, facilitating the development of a comprehensive project management plan, providing guidance and monitoring for project staff, identifying partnerships and opportunities to achieve project goals, developing best practices and tools for project execution, delivering project plans and documentation, identifying and resolving project issues, evaluating project progress, supporting staffing plans, and ensuring all project team members receive appropriate orientation. Additionally, the Program Manager will establish communication schedules to update stakeholders, determine resource requirements, develop project completion schedules, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in Health, Nutrition, International Development, Social Science, or a related field. A Master's degree in management studies, public health, or a related field is preferred. Project Management (PM) Certification is also preferred. The ideal candidate should have comprehensive knowledge of project management concepts, practices, and procedures, as well as strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, along with demonstrated project and personnel management skills.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's degree in management studies, public health, or a related field. Project Management Certification is also desirable, indicating a formal understanding of project management principles and practices.
Experience: The position typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in project management principles and practices, with at least 2+ years of line management experience. Candidates should have prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization, with a focus on global health projects, including USG funded programs. Experience in international or domestic program development or project management is preferred, along with prior work experience in Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security and key health areas such as malaria and nutrition.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for project documentation.
