Job Overview:
The Program Officer position is designed to provide comprehensive administrative assistance and support to various projects within the organization. This role involves collecting, compiling, and analyzing relevant information to ensure project objectives are met efficiently. The Program Officer will engage in a variety of tasks including updating manuals, assisting with proposals, and processing complex paperwork. The position requires collaboration with technical teams and may involve monitoring project budgets, creating and reviewing work plans, and preparing presentations. Depending on the organizational location, the role may vary, with Program Officers in Business Units focusing on global awards and business development, while those in Regional Offices manage country-specific projects. The position demands a high level of proficiency in project management best practices, as individuals are expected to demonstrate increasing complexity in their responsibilities as they progress through the levels of Program Officer (Level I – III).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Program Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: collaborating with project management teams to ensure project needs are met; providing administrative support such as planning meetings, arranging travel, and managing project calendars; collecting and analyzing data for reports; maintaining project files and distribution lists; facilitating communication with partners; assisting in the management of project budgets; and supporting business development efforts by coordinating grant proposals and project materials. Additionally, the Program Officer will be expected to conduct research, review work plans, and fulfill other administrative duties as assigned. The role may also involve liaising with internal finance units to track project performance against financial objectives and deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong foundation in project management principles and practices. They should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for adhering to project deadlines. The ability to problem-solve and recommend corrective actions is also crucial. Candidates should be articulate and professional, capable of communicating effectively with clients and staff. A basic understanding of project design concepts and practices is required, along with the ability to learn new industry processes and systems.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Environment, Gender, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology, Youth, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support project management and implementation.

Experience:
The position typically requires a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in supporting projects or technical practice areas. Candidates should have prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred, as it is essential for the administrative tasks involved in the role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Additionally, proficiency in the host country language is highly desirable, as it facilitates communication with local partners and stakeholders.

This position may require travel of approximately 10% - 25%.
