Job Overview:
The Marketing Intern position is a spring internship located in the Sales and Marketing Section of the Outreach Division within the Department of Global Communications at the United Nations. This internship is designed to be full-time and in-person, lasting between 3 to 6 months. The intern will play a crucial role in assisting the Sales and Marketing Section in designing and implementing marketing strategies for United Nations Publications. The intern will be involved in promoting the UN brand and driving demand for UN publications, which includes a variety of print and electronic materials. The intern will work under the supervision of the Marketing Officer and will be expected to contribute to various marketing campaigns, public events, and digital content creation, thereby gaining valuable experience in the field of marketing within an international context.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties including: assisting with the planning and execution of marketing campaigns across multiple channels; providing logistical support for public events organized in the UN Bookshop; drafting, formatting, editing, and posting original content for the UN's website and social media platforms, including graphics and videos; maintaining databases and compiling reports; conducting research on thematic issues relevant to UN publications; assisting in the development and implementation of surveys; and providing general office support such as processing correspondence, organizing files, and coordinating meetings. The intern will work up to five days a week, totaling 35 hours, and will be expected to engage actively with various stakeholders to promote the UN's outreach objectives.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level), or have graduated with a university degree (minimum bachelor's level). Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. No prior work experience is required, but relevant training or coursework that benefits the UN during the internship is encouraged.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have completed a university degree program. This includes those pursuing a master's degree or those who have completed their undergraduate studies. The educational background should ideally be related to fields such as marketing, communications, international relations, or other relevant disciplines that align with the UN's mission and objectives.

Experience:
While no specific work experience is required for this internship, candidates should possess relevant skills and knowledge that can contribute to the UN's goals. This could include academic projects, volunteer work, or other experiences that demonstrate the candidate's commitment to the ideals of the United Nations and their ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
