Job Overview:
The Multimedia Content Producer will be responsible for creating and submitting a maximum of ten approved multimedia content packages in Portuguese. This role aims to enhance the work of UN News Language Units by providing local voices and field-based storytelling that highlights UN activities, particularly in relation to the SDGs, human rights, and climate issues. The producer will work closely with the relevant Unit Chief to plan and produce quality multimedia content, ensuring that it aligns with UN priorities and engages the target audience effectively. The position requires a strong understanding of multimedia production, including text, audio, and video, and the ability to adapt content for various platforms, including social media. The expected duration of this contract is a maximum of six months, and the work will primarily focus on the Western and Central Africa region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Individual Contractor shall: • Liaise with the relevant Unit Chief to discuss and plan the production of quality multimedia content on various issues, providing field-based narratives related to UN priorities and campaigns. • Pitch story ideas and agree on timelines and content to be produced, incorporating diverse storytelling approaches suitable for news and social media platforms. • Research content from verifiable sources, write stories and scripts, and create multimedia stories for UN News language platforms, ensuring alignment with global priorities and focusing on local angles. • Coordinate technical arrangements and organize interviews in the countries of assignment as required. • Follow UN News guidelines to ensure editorial clarity and sound political judgment, including due diligence regarding permissions and copyright. • Possess well-rounded experience in broadcast/digital journalism and multimedia production in the assigned languages, with skills in video production being highly desirable. • Provide references and work samples upon request. • If required, provide proof of registration/accreditation as a journalist by national/local authorities.

Required Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A first-level university degree in communication, journalism, video production, or a related field is desirable. A minimum of two years of experience in broadcast/digital journalism in the assigned language(s) is required. Experience in the full range of multimedia production is essential, along with experience in video production, filming, and editing video material. Experience in recording and editing audio material, as well as digital content publishing and incorporating photos and graphics, is also desirable.

Educational Background:
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum qualification. A first-level university degree in communication, journalism, video production, or a related field is preferred and considered desirable for candidates applying for this role.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience in broadcast/digital journalism in the assigned language(s). This experience should encompass a full range of multimedia production capabilities, including video production, filming, and editing, as well as audio material recording and editing. Experience in digital content publishing is also essential, along with the ability to incorporate photos and graphics into multimedia content.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese and English is required for this position, as these are the primary working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of other UN official languages is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
