Job Overview:
The Internal Audit Intern position at UN Women is designed to provide support to the Internal Audit Service (IAS) under the supervision of the Chief of IAS. The intern will play a crucial role in developing a technology-driven Internal Audit Risk Assessment using PowerBI, which is a key component of the internal audit function. The intern will assist in performing risk-based audits of various business processes at UN Women headquarters, including programs, projects, corporate functions, systems, and internal controls. The role also involves supporting the development of technology and AI-supported approaches to testing, which are essential for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of audit processes. The intern will gain valuable experience in the application of technology in internal auditing and risk assessment, contributing to the overall objectives of the Internal Audit Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Internal Audit Intern include:
  • Supporting the development of a PowerBI-enabled Internal Audit Risk Assessment by identifying dashboard requirements, data sources, and preparing data for analysis. This involves extracting, cleaning, and transforming data using Power Query, building data models, and creating visual components for the dashboard.
  • Assisting in the validation and testing of the dashboard to ensure accuracy and interactivity, as well as gathering feedback for improvements.
  • Supporting the Internal Audit Specialist in developing a manual for performing the Internal Audit Risk Assessment using Power BI.
  • Contributing to the development of technology-supported techniques to achieve the Internal Audit Plan, including designing data analytics and AI-supported approaches for conducting audits.
  • Engaging in risk-based audits that assess performance, governance, compliance, and project management, while utilizing analytics to enhance audit work.
  • Learning about the integration of technology in risk assessment and internal audit testing processes.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Internal Audit Intern position include:
  • Demonstrated ability in building PowerBI dashboards and utilizing artificial intelligence to develop creative solutions and automate processes.
  • Experience in developing and using data analytics tools for data analysis.
  • Exposure to understanding risks and controls, internal audit processes, business processes, finance/accounting, project management, and program management.
  • Ability to produce timely and quality outputs, develop creative solutions, and demonstrate strong consultative communication skills.
  • Energetic self-starter with multi-tasking abilities and discipline in meeting deadlines.

Educational Background:
Candidates for the Internal Audit Intern position must have university studies in a related field, with a focus on data analytics and PowerBI. Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that is part of a degree program and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in data analytics and the use of PowerBI. While specific years of experience are not mandated, familiarity with internal audit processes, risk assessment, and the application of technology in these areas is highly beneficial. The intern should be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and applying new skills in a professional environment.

Languages:
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral, are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required.

The internship is designed to provide a stipend to interns who are not receiving financial support from other sources, such as universities or other institutions, to help cover basic living costs during the internship.
