UNODET serves as an advocate and focal point for digital cooperation, engaging with Member States, the technology industry, civil society, and other stakeholders. The organization facilitates multi-stakeholder policy dialogue on digital and emerging technologies, strengthens system-wide coordination within and across the United Nations system, and supports the implementation of the Global Digital Compact.   • The office is led by the Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, who works closely with various UN entities and multi-stakeholder groups to facilitate dialogue and accelerate digital cooperation.

Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern (Videography and Digital Media) will play a crucial role in supporting UNODET’s efforts to enhance visibility and engagement through multimedia storytelling and video production. The intern will focus on videography and short-form digital media, documenting events, initiatives, and high-level United Nations engagements related to digital cooperation and emerging technologies. This position requires creativity and technical skills in video production, as the intern will be responsible for capturing compelling video content in dynamic environments, including global conferences and key UN engagements. The intern will also edit short-form video content for various social media platforms, ensuring that UNODET’s work is effectively communicated to a wider audience. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about digital media and storytelling, and who are eager to contribute to the mission of the United Nations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected intern will have a variety of responsibilities, including: - Capturing compelling video content in dynamic environments, such as global conferences and high-level United Nations engagements. - Filming behind-the-scenes moments and key activities to support storytelling around UNODET’s initiatives and partnerships. - Editing short-form, social-first video content for platforms like LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky, and X, using tools such as Adobe Premier Pro or similar editing software. - Supporting the communications team in producing engaging multimedia content that highlights UNODET’s work on digital cooperation and emerging technologies. - Assisting in recording video and audio using professional cameras or mobile production equipment. - Organizing and managing video footage and media assets, ensuring strong attention to detail and effective file management. - Collaborating with team members to brainstorm and develop creative concepts for video projects.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: - Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); - Be enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or - Have graduated with a university degree as defined in the previous points. Candidates should preferably be pursuing studies in areas such as Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, Multimedia Production, Visual Arts, or related fields. Additionally, applicants should possess strong visual instincts for framing, pacing, and storytelling, as well as proficiency in video editing tools such as Adobe Premier Pro or similar software.

Educational Background:
Candidates interested in this internship should have a background in relevant fields such as Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, Multimedia Production, Visual Arts, or related disciplines. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate programme or in their final year of undergraduate studies, or have recently graduated with a degree in one of these areas. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in video production and digital media, equipping candidates with the necessary skills to succeed in this role.

Experience:
No prior working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, candidates should demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge gained through their education, training, or coursework that would benefit the United Nations during their internship. Experience capturing video in real-world environments, such as conferences or events, is advantageous but not mandatory. The focus is on the applicant's potential to contribute to the UN's mission through their skills and creativity in multimedia production.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application. Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English are essential for effectively conveying UNODET’s initiatives and engaging with diverse stakeholders.

This internship position is available in-person in New York and can be considered for full-time or part-time modalities. The expected duration of the internship is between 3 to 6 months, with an estimated start date in May 202

Additionally, for internships in the United States, non-citizens or permanent residents will need to obtain a G4 visa and ensure they have valid employment authorization.
