Job Overview: The Senior Driver position at UN Women is crucial for providing reliable and safe driving services to UN Women staff and high-ranking UN officials and visitors. This role requires a strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and integrity, as well as an excellent understanding of protocol and security issues. The Senior Driver will not only be responsible for driving but will also provide basic administrative, clerical, and logistical support to the UN Women office. This includes ensuring that all driving services are conducted in a client-oriented manner, demonstrating courtesy, confidentiality, and tact while working with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. The position is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of the office and ensuring that all transportation needs are met in a timely and professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide reliable and secure driving services, including transporting authorized personnel, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and meeting official personnel at the airport.
Ensure proper use of the vehicle by maintaining daily logs, monitoring gas consumption, and contributing to vehicle maintenance plans.
Conduct day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, ensuring it is clean, in good working condition, and making minor repairs as necessary.
Maintain and ensure the availability of all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance and first aid kits.
Provide basic administrative, logistical, and protocol support, assisting with visa and permit issuance, document organization, and handling office mail.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: The position requires completion of secondary education and a valid driver’s license. Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Knowledge of computer and office software packages, such as MS Word and Excel, is also required. The candidate should possess excellent driving skills, a good knowledge of local driving rules and regulations, and the ability to perform minor vehicle repairs.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, which is a prerequisite for this position. A valid driver’s license is also mandatory to ensure compliance with driving regulations and safety standards.
Experience: The role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a driver, specifically within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record and familiarity with the operational protocols of such environments.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
