Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver will be responsible for the following duties:
Safely driving vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and general cargo, including hazardous materials.
Making regular deliveries of parcels and documents between UN offices and other institutions, such as Ministries and Embassies.
Conducting minor purchases and collecting urgent items from local suppliers as needed.
Handling customs regulations and formalities for goods collection.
Meeting official personnel at the airport and assisting with immigration and customs procedures.
Maintaining effective and tactful communication with officials and visitors.
Performing day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires, and arranging for repairs as necessary.
Logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and maintenance activities.
Following procedures in case of accidents and applying good judgment in assignments. 1
Assisting with data collection and analysis, as well as preparing presentations and reports. 1
Updating information materials such as web pages or brochures. 1

Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have completed driver training. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The position demands a strong understanding of driving rules and regulations, as well as knowledge of local road conditions and safety protocols. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, commitment to gender equality, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. The role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory for this position. Additionally, candidates must have completed driver training and hold a valid driver’s license. Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as a driver with a proven safe driving record is required. Languages: Proficiency in English and Arabic is required for this position, with a minimum UN Level II competency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Additional Notes: This position is temporarily available for six months, starting on April 1, 2026, and is subject to the availability of funds. It is a local recruitment position, meaning applicants must be authorized to work in Syria. Selected candidates from outside the duty station will be responsible for their relocation expenses. Staff members recruited locally are not eligible for allowances or benefits exclusive to international recruitment.
