Job Overview: The HR Officer position at WFP is crucial for managing the delivery of integrated, client-focused HR services across various functions, including Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and HR Operations. The incumbent will provide senior-level HR advisory support, ensuring the coherent implementation of HR policies and processes across all HR pillars. Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Officer will report to the Head of Human Resources and will be responsible for a variety of duties, including: participating in the development of country-specific HR plans and processes; leading HR operational activities or projects to meet local objectives; advising managers and employees on complex HR issues; managing the employment relationship between WFP and its staff; overseeing capability building initiatives; planning and delivering onboarding processes for new employees; contributing to talent management strategies; delivering organizational design activities; leading and motivating a small HR team; monitoring data accuracy and compliance; maintaining knowledge of best practices; and supporting the Head of HR in ensuring cohesion across HR pillars. The HR Officer will also be expected to perform other duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with two additional years of relevant work experience or training is acceptable. The role requires sound theoretical understanding of HR concepts and principles, along with a broad knowledge of best practices, techniques, and processes in human resources. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to handle sensitive HR cases with discretion and judgment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. Candidates with a first university degree and additional relevant work experience or training may also be considered. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of HR management within the context of humanitarian operations.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of postgraduate professional experience in Human Resources, particularly with an interest in international humanitarian development. Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract for a duration of 12 months, specifically open to Syrian nationals only. The duty station for this role is Damascus, Syria.
