Job Overview:
This internship position is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in library, information, and knowledge management within a prominent international organization. The intern will work under the direct supervision of library support staff and the overall supervision of the Chief Librarian. The role is structured to be full-time, requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week, and is expected to last between 3 to 6 months. The intern will engage in various tasks aimed at enhancing the visibility of library resources and the work of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) among staff, clients, and the public. Responsibilities will vary based on the intern's background and the duration of the internship, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to significant projects and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be involved in a variety of tasks that support the library and the CKMS team. Key responsibilities include: - Assisting in reviewing document retention policies to ensure compliance and efficiency. - Participating in the Library’s filing and knowledge management tasks and initiatives, which may involve organizing and maintaining library resources. - Supporting collection management activities, including shelving, weeding, and ensuring the library's collection is up-to-date and relevant. - Assisting in reference and circulation services, helping users access the information they need. - Designing and publishing publicity and training materials related to the Library's e-resources, services, and ESCAP publications. This may include creating online brochures, streaming video presentations, and curated email updates to promote library resources. - Engaging in information management, knowledge management, and digital asset management tasks to enhance the library's operational effectiveness. - Performing other related work as required, which may include administrative tasks or special projects as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent); or (c) have studied administration, which is desirable. While professional work experience is not required for applicants to the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's, or Ph.D. Programme, or have completed such programmes. Proof of eligibility must be attached to the application, and an official certificate will be required later in the process.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree programme. A focus on fields related to library science, information management, or administration is particularly relevant.
