Job Overview:
The Interpreter Assistant position is crucial for facilitating communication between asylum seekers, refugees, and UNHCR staff. The role involves providing accurate and professional interpretation and translation services for various activities related to Registration (REG), Refugee Status Determination (RSD), Resettlement (RST), and Community Services. The Interpreter Assistant will be responsible for interpreting during interviews and counseling sessions, translating documents, and assisting in Protection information sessions. This position requires a high level of proficiency in both Arabic and English, as well as the ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct while performing their duties, ensuring that all communications are clear and effective. The role may also involve remote work, allowing for flexibility in how services are delivered.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Interpreter Assistant include but are not limited to: interpreting and translating documents from Arabic to English and vice versa; interpreting during REG/RSD/RST/CS/Protection interviews and counseling sessions; providing interpretation for other UNHCR offices and delegations as needed; interpreting during Protection information sessions and training; reporting on calls received for database recording; performing other interpretation and translation functions as requested by supervisors; interpreting from various sources such as newspapers and reports; attending meetings with high-ranking officials and taking minutes; facilitating immigration and customs formalities for official personnel; responding to queries related to the area of responsibility; supporting risk management and decision-making processes; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Interpreter Assistant position include proven skills in communicating proficiently in both Arabic and English, with the ability to listen, speak, read, and write accurately in both languages. Candidates should possess a professional demeanor and adhere to ethical standards in their work. Prior experience in interpretation and translation is desirable, as is familiarity with the UNHCR's operational context and procedures. Educational Background:
