Job Overview: The position of Expert in Gender Mainstreaming and Stakeholder Engagement is crucial for ensuring significant social impact contributions across the outcomes of the project. The role requires extensive knowledge of integrating gender and local community perspectives into environmental projects, particularly in monitoring and evaluation. The expert will facilitate gender-responsive actions across all outputs of the project, ensuring that gender considerations are embedded in all aspects of project implementation. The expert will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and development partners, to promote gender equality and sustainable development. This position is home-based and part-time, allowing for flexibility while ensuring that the expert can effectively contribute to the project's goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Expert will be responsible for several key duties, including: 1) Gender Mainstreaming: Integrating gender perspectives into project planning, implementation, and evaluation processes. 2) Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to ensure their involvement and support for the project. 3) Capacity Building and Awareness: Developing and delivering training programs and awareness campaigns to enhance understanding of gender issues and sustainable practices among stakeholders. 4) Monitoring and Reporting: Collecting and analyzing data related to gender and stakeholder engagement, preparing reports on project progress, and ensuring compliance with gender and social safeguard policies. The expert will also participate in knowledge-sharing activities and contribute to the development of knowledge products related to the project.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in social sciences, gender and women’s studies, environmental science, natural resource management, public administration, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in gender mainstreaming and stakeholder engagement, particularly in environmental and sustainable development projects. Demonstrated experience in working with government agencies, local communities, and development partners is essential. Candidates should also have experience in project coordination, implementation monitoring, and reporting for multi-partner projects, preferably in the East Asian Seas region. Familiarity with Thailand’s gender and social safeguard policies, environmental policies, and nutrient management issues is desirable.
Educational Background: A university degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, gender and women’s studies, environmental science, natural resource management, public administration, or business administration is required. A master’s degree in these areas is highly desirable and would enhance a candidate's qualifications for the position.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in gender mainstreaming and stakeholder engagement, particularly in environmental and sustainable development projects. Experience working with government institutions, local authorities, and community-level stakeholders is required. Additionally, candidates should have experience in facilitating meetings, conducting interviews, and providing country support while working with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience with GEF, UNEP, or other donor-funded projects, along with a strong understanding of their procedures and compliance requirements for gender and social safeguards, is an asset.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required, as well as fluency in written and spoken Thai. These language skills are essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for the successful implementation of the project.
