Job Overview:
The Intern will work under the direct supervision of the IT specialist at the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office (APRO) and will be guided by the ICT Associate. The primary role of the intern is to support the ICT team in maintaining a secure, reliable, and efficient ICT environment. This includes providing first-level technical support to personnel, assisting with the lifecycle management of ICT assets, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA’s Information security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-policies" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security policies and procedures. The intern will engage in a structured work-plan that outlines specific achievements and learning opportunities throughout the internship. Regular progress meetings will be held to foster a supportive environment that enhances the intern's skills and capacity in alignment with UNFPA’s mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key areas: A. User Support and Service Desk - Provide first-level support to personnel regarding basic connectivity, hardware, and software issues, including Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs), Zoom, and printing. Assist in the setup and configuration of official laptops (Windows and macOS) for staff, ensuring adherence to standard configurations. Guide users on utilizing the Global Service Desk for submitting tickets related to account access and technical issues. Assist with setting up ICT equipment for meetings and conferences. B. ICT Asset Management Support - Help maintain an accurate inventory of all ICT devices and ensure proper tagging. Support the device disposal process by assisting with data sanitization of end-of-life devices. Organize secure storage for ICT equipment and assist with the installation of office connectivity infrastructure. C. Application and Data Maintenance - Verify the accuracy of office directory data and assist in reviewing Google Group memberships. Help users navigate corporate applications such as Quantum and DocuSign. D. Information Security and Compliance - Promote information security awareness, verify that office devices have required security measures, and ensure compliance with guidelines regarding the use of Generative AI tools.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field; have completed one full academic year in a first university degree program; be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program; have recently graduated with a relevant university degree and must start the internship within one year of graduation; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee program. Technical skills required include hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 and macOS configuration, proficiency with Google Workspace, and basic knowledge of networking and hardware troubleshooting.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Enrollment in a relevant academic program is essential, with a preference for those who have completed at least one full academic year. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply, provided they can start the internship within one year of graduation.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have practical experience with Windows and macOS systems, as well as familiarity with Google Workspace applications. While specific years of experience are not mandated, hands-on experience in a technical support role or similar environment is highly beneficial. The intern should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile, particularly in a multicultural work environment.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and interns do not receive a salary or remuneration from UNFPA. Interns are responsible for their living expenses, accommodation, travel, and other requirements. However, a stipend may be provided to cover basic daily expenses if the intern is not financially supported by an institution. Medical insurance is required for the duration of the internship, and proof of insurance must be submitted before the internship begins.
