Job Overview:
The Nuclear Security Officer (NSTDC and INSEN) will be a key member of the Education and Training Development Unit within the Division of Nuclear Security at the IAEA. This position is pivotal in developing and maintaining a global education program in nuclear security, ensuring that it meets the needs of member states. The officer will coordinate the delivery and evaluation of educational programs through the International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN) and will lead the development of guidance documents related to nuclear security education. The role requires strategic planning and management of the Nuclear Security Training and Demonstration Centre (NSTDC), focusing on effective educational and training activities that align with international standards. The officer will also engage with educational professionals and institutions to foster a consistent and high-quality nuclear security education framework worldwide.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Nuclear Security Officer will manage the operations of the NSTDC, including overseeing training activities, developing and reviewing strategies and plans, and monitoring operations. Responsibilities include coordinating the installation and maintenance of NSTDC equipment, managing financial and human resources for NSTDC activities, and assisting member states in delivering high-quality nuclear security education programs. The officer will lead the INSEN to ensure the quality and alignment of nuclear security education programs with international guidance. Additional duties involve leading projects for the development of educational materials, evaluating the impact of educational activities, and conceptualizing and implementing various educational initiatives, including international and regional schools on nuclear security.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in nuclear engineering, nuclear safety, nuclear security, education, adult learning, or related fields. Alternatively, a university degree in these areas combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered. A minimum of 7 years of experience is required, including at least 2 years at the international level in developing and delivering education and training in nuclear security. Experience in analyzing educational needs, designing educational programs, and managing training organizations is essential. Familiarity with the challenges of implementing the IAEA's Nuclear Security Plan is desirable, along with excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages is an asset.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as nuclear engineering, nuclear safety, nuclear security, education, or adult learning. Candidates with a university degree in these areas and additional relevant experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding nuclear security principles and the ability to develop and implement educational programs effectively.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years in an international context focused on nuclear security education and training. Experience in conducting educational needs analyses, designing curricula, and overseeing the implementation of educational programs is crucial. Additionally, candidates should have experience managing training organizations or Nuclear Security Support Centres and fulfilling roles as instructors or facilitators in nuclear security.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

The IAEA offers a competitive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $84,672, along with a variable post adjustment, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, and relocation expenses.
