Job Overview:
The Finance Assistant position is crucial for ensuring the effective implementation of financial and budgetary procedures within the WFP's country office in Chad. The role involves supporting financial operations, ensuring compliance with established guidelines, and providing assistance in various financial tasks. The Finance Assistant will work under the supervision of the unit head or finance officer, contributing to the efficient use of financial resources. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to interpret financial guidelines to recommend actions to colleagues at different levels. The Finance Assistant will also play a key role in maintaining financial records and ensuring transparency in financial transactions, which is essential for the organization's accountability and effectiveness in delivering humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks, including but not limited to: verifying invoices in the Integrated Transport System (ITS) and ensuring document compliance before forwarding to the Finance Officer; processing local supplier invoices in the Wings system; tracking invoice deadlines in ITS; reviewing supporting documents for non-ITS payments such as medical reimbursements and other invoices; verifying trip documents received in Finance and ensuring all necessary approvals are in place; initiating accounts payable invoices in Wings for Express Union transactions; assisting in the execution of various payments while ensuring compliance with financial regulations; participating in payroll processing for national staff; preparing financial reports and extracting data from financial systems; analyzing open items and producing weekly reports for their resolution; preparing payment documents such as bank transfer orders; providing accounting and financial information to WFP personnel; and responding to inquiries regarding invoices from suppliers and staff. Additional tasks may be assigned as required, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of consecutive experience in a similar role, demonstrating a strong background in financial data collection and monitoring for projects and programs. Experience in assessing financial health and communicating findings to senior management is also essential. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of financial procedures and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are critical for success in this position, as is the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education. A post-secondary certificate in finance or a related field is desirable, as it provides a foundational understanding of financial principles and practices that are essential for the role. Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant experience in finance or accounting roles. Languages:
Fluency in French (level C) is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the WFP office in Chad.
