Job Overview: The Chief of Party (CoP) will lead a consortium that includes various international and national NGOs, including SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL. This consortium is crucial in addressing the ongoing crisis in Sudan, particularly following the outbreak of conflict in April 202
The CoP will be responsible for managing and strengthening the consortium to enhance its efficiency and impact while adapting to the evolving context and donor requirements. The role involves seeking additional donor funding to ensure the consortium remains a viable option for humanitarian response. The CoP will report directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and work closely with the Deputy Country Director for Programs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Chief of Party will have several key responsibilities, including:
Leading and managing the consortium with guidance from the Country Director and the Consortium Steering Committee.
Collaborating with all consortium partners to enhance project delivery efficiency.
Ensuring effective management of risk, compliance, and accountability across partners.
Developing and implementing harmonized tools for progress monitoring, reporting, and feedback among partners.
Engaging proactively with current and potential donors to secure funding.
Communicating the project's impact effectively to external audiences. The CoP will also face challenges such as managing a high volume of contracts, donor requests, and proposal submissions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong leadership and management skills, with a proven track record in managing consortia or partnerships in humanitarian settings. They should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partners, and beneficiaries. A deep understanding of the humanitarian landscape in Sudan and experience in emergency response are essential. The candidate should also demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on results and impact.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in international development, humanitarian studies, public administration, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) are preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have significant experience in humanitarian response, particularly in leadership roles within consortia or partnerships. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in managing complex humanitarian programs in challenging environments is expected. Experience in fundraising and donor engagement is also crucial, as is familiarity with the operational context in Sudan.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable and would be considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local partners and communities.
