Job Overview: The Information Management Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the production and dissemination of information regarding populations of concern, which includes refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). This position is integral to operationalizing data standards developed at the central level within field operations. The incumbent will compile and analyze data from various populations, assisting the Programme Team and UNHCR's implementing partners in selecting appropriate indicators for monitoring purposes. The role also involves operationalizing protection monitoring systems in collaboration with the Protection Team. The Information Management Associate is expected to uphold UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity while performing their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management Associate include operationalizing country-specific common data standards and promoting these standards among partners, including UNHCR data standards and the IASC Common Operational Datasets. The incumbent will compile and aggregate necessary information elements to produce standardized information products and implement data/information collection plans for both baseline and context-specific data. Responsibilities also include collecting, collating, and processing information while ensuring data quality and consistency control. The Associate will produce summary statistics, support the coordination of data collection teams, and leverage geographic data for map production and use in geographic information systems (GIS). Additionally, the role involves sharing UNHCR data with partner agencies, maintaining Portal data and information according to agreed frequencies, participating in Needs Assessment processes, and representing UNHCR in relevant meetings. The Associate will also make recommendations on technical information management requirements and support the identification and management of risks while ensuring decision-making is informed by risk assessments.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Information Management Associate position include a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education. Essential qualifications include experience in handling confidential data and a demonstrated understanding of various data collection methodologies. Desirable qualifications include experience in web design and software development, as well as the ability to formulate information management-related technical requirements and operating procedures. Functional skills required for this position include proficiency in ArcGIS (Geographic Information System) and statistical analysis, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the Information Management Associate position includes a High School Diploma as a minimum, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant fields such as Information Technology, Statistics, or Social Sciences.
