Job Overview: The position of UN Volunteer for Asia and Pacific Dashboard Management is integral to the UNFPA's efforts in enhancing data management and reporting capabilities across its Country Offices (COs) in the Asia and Pacific region. Reporting directly to the Regional Planning, Monitoring and EvaluationAdviser, the volunteer will play a pivotal role in the establishment of the Asia and Pacific Dashboard. This dashboard is envisioned as a user-friendly platform that will track progress on higher-level country programme results, facilitate evidence-based decision-making, communicate results to external stakeholders, and promote knowledge sharing among country offices. The volunteer will be responsible for managing the dashboard, ensuring it is functional, updated, and serves as a reliable source of credible data for various stakeholders. The role requires collaboration with COs to identify key indicators, harmonize data reporting, and integrate diverse data sources into the dashboard. The volunteer will also engage in dashboard engineering, ensuring that the platform is designed for optimal data visualization and analysis, thereby supporting UNFPA's strategic objectives in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Data Harmonization: Conducting assessments of reporting requirements and data needs for both internal and external communications. Collaborating with Country Offices to identify key indicators and data points for reporting. Integrating data from various platforms and guiding COs in developing data collection forms. Proposing methodologies for data harmonization and aggregation while ensuring data security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols are in place.
Dashboard Engineering: Working with UNFPA HQ to design the web-based regional dashboard, structuring it for easy data visualization and analysis. Incorporating geographical mapping functionalities and designing intuitive visualization elements to present complex data effectively. Outlining a data backup and network security plan.
Managing the Regional Dashboard: Maintaining communication with COs for timely results reporting, supporting quality assurance of data, conducting trend analyses, troubleshooting technical challenges, and facilitating knowledge sharing among COs. The volunteer will also document promising practices and lessons learned from COs to enhance the overall effectiveness of the dashboard.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess a strong background in data management, monitoring and evaluation, or related fields. They should demonstrate proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, as well as experience in developing user-friendly dashboards. Familiarity with the UN system and understanding of SRHR issues will be advantageous. The ideal candidate should also exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be capable of working collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Additionally, candidates should have a commitment to the values and principles of the United Nations.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as public health, social sciences, statistics, or information technology is required. A master's degree in a related discipline would be an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data management principles and practices, as well as experience in using data visualization software and tools.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in data management, monitoring and evaluation, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of health or development programs, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have a proven track record of successfully managing projects that involve data analysis and reporting.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNFPA. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the Asia and Pacific region, such as Thai, Mandarin, or Hindi, would be considered an asset and beneficial for effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Bangkok, Thailand, and is classified as a full-time role. The living conditions in Bangkok are favorable, with access to excellent accommodation and health facilities. The cost of living is relatively high compared to some other Asian capitals but remains lower than in Europe and North America. The role may involve occasional travel within the region to support Country Offices and facilitate knowledge sharing.
